A KASHAN POTTERY BOWL, PERSIA, 13TH CENTURY - A Persian pottery bowl of truncated conical form with flaring walls and straight vertical foot, the fritware body painted in blue with black outlines and dots under a transparent glaze, decorated with a central star-shaped panel connecting with leaves and leafy sprays, the rim with a band containing pseudo-Arabic inscriptions in cursive script on a black ground. The exterior divided with stripes featuring stylised vegetal motifs. Diameter 20.5 cm. Height 10 cm.
