A TINNED ROMAN SITULA, 1ST CENTURY AD - A heavily tinned small situla. The vessel is made from bronze which has been heavily tinned and then burnished on a lathe. The handle has now rusted being of iron, however the two lugs are extant made in the form of long drops which were soldered to the body. A ring base is also still extant which would have been soldered to the base of the main body. Height: 11 cm. with base attached. Diameter: 10.5 cm. 1st c. AD. Bronze with heavy tinning.
