A BYZANTINE GOLD PENDANT CROSS, CIRCA 6TH-7TH CENTURY AD - A Byzantine gold pendant cross made from gold sheet. The cross is formed from hollow tubes which expand towards the finials. At the centre of the cross there is a raised setting containing an engraved rock crystal. The finials are composed of hemispherical caps decorated with filigreed globules (which have come loose). 4.2 by 2.5 cm. 5.95 grams PROVENANCE Private collection, Belgium since 2000s CONDITION Fair condition.
