A HELLENISTIC SCARABOID WITH A LION, 3RD CENTURY BC - A carnelian scaraboid with a lion at bay with a front paw raised. The scaraboid has been drilled almost certainly to make a ring bezel which could then swivel to use the seal. Orange/amber carnelian. 16 by 12 mm. PROVENANCE From a European collection formed in the 1980's.
