A PAIR OF OTTOMAN MOTHER OF PEARL INLAID WOODED TURBAN STANDS (KAVUKLUK), TURKEY, EARLY 20TH CENTURY - Of typical shape, the turban holder shelf slanting forward at 2/3 of the full height. The decoration consisting of mother-of-pearl, bone and wood marquetry work in a typical Ottoman-revival style featuring lotus blossoming branches and floral sprays around a mihraab shaped roundel enclosing inscriptions in large thuluth script. Inscriptions: وهو القاهر فوق عباده, Surah Al-An'aam v.18 38 by 100 cm.
