A ROCK CRYSTAL RING, 10TH-12TH CENTURY - An Islamic rock crystal ring with an inscribed bezel. The ring consists of a single piece of flawless rock crystal which consists of a masterfully carved shank and a rectangular bezel upon which a Kufic inscription is engraved. The shank is made with an elegant sweep which descends to a point at the base, meanwhile a flat facet is made on both sides while the outside is fashioned in a ridge. This allows the rings to reflect the facets and give the piece volume and grace. 37 by 36 mm. 20 Size: 19 Weight: 14 gram. Inscriptions: in Kufic script “ لا إله إلا الله الملك الحق المبين, There is no god but Allah, the King, the clear truth“. PROVENANCE From a European collection formed in the 1980's.
