18th-19th Century - Antique oil on canvas of the Double Trinity. All these items must be collected from the house in person; we do not offer a delivery service. If anyone wishes to arrange for an item to be collected, they may do so via a transport company. Highly interesting and unusual antique oil on canvas painting depicting the ”Double Trinity” or the extended Holy Family with Jesus' maternal grandparents. The upper heavenly plane features God the Father holding the orb next to the dove of the Holy Spirit. On the earthly plane, the Christ Child stands in the center, flanked by the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, Saint Anne, and Saint Joachim. This piece holds exceptional uniqueness for collectors as it remains partially unfinished (non-finito), showcasing the crisp preparatory underdrawing in ink or charcoal over the lower garments and figures on the right. The canvas displays prominent signs of age, including natural craquelure and edge wear from past stretcher tension. Note: It retains a small inventory or lot tag in the lower right corner.
