Antique Lever-Action Spike-Tooth Harrow Section - This item is a single section of an antique spike-tooth drag harrow, a tillage implement used for breaking soil clods and smoothing seedbeds. The unit is constructed with a heavy iron frame containing multiple crossbars fitted with square-set spike teeth. It features a manual adjustment lever and a notched quadrant ratchet mechanism designed to control the angle of the teeth, allowing for varying degrees of soil penetration or for dumping accumulated field trash. Attached to the front frame are segments of iron chain used for hitching to a singletree or a larger gang frame. This implement is consistent with late 19th to early 20th-century manufacture and was originally intended for horse-drawn use or for use with early low-horsepower tractors.
