A Pair of Antique Columbia Cast Iron and Wood School Desk Units - This lot features two matching antique schoolhouse furniture pieces manufactured by Columbia in Piqua, Ohio. The collection includes one combination unit and one standalone seat. The combination unit consists of a slanted wooden desktop with a cast iron lattice-work book storage compartment underneath and a folding wooden seat attached to the front of the frame. The second piece is a standalone folding wooden seat matching the design of the primary unit. Both pieces are constructed with black-painted, ornate cast iron frames and solid wood seats and tops. The cast iron side frames feature the raised lettering COLUMBIA and PIQUA, O. A raised number 3 enclosed in a circle is located on the frame of the desk unit. A circular mark on the seat bracket includes the characters PATD followed by MAY 23. Both units have been secured to modern 2x4 lumber runners for stability.
