William L. Gilbert Time is Money Victorian Walnut Parlor Mantel Clock - UNTESTED An American Victorian-style walnut mantel clock, commonly referred to as a gingerbread or parlor clock, produced by the William L. Gilbert Clock Company of Winsted, Connecticut. The wooden case features a prominent arched pediment topped with a turned finial and a central keystone block adorned with a gilded neoclassical female head mascaron. The case sides include turned spindle pendants and scrolled supports with carved floral medallions. The stepped rectangular base is decorated with incised scrollwork. The cream-colored dial displays black Roman numerals, an outer minute track, and a central diamond-shaped logo enclosing the letter G. The lower edge of the dial is marked WM. L. GILBERT CLOCK CO. WINSTED, CONN. U.S.A. The clock features a mechanical eight-day time and strike movement accessed via two winding arbors on the dial. The lower glass door is decorated with a silver-tone stenciled design featuring sunburst rays and the motto TIME IS MONEY. A decorative brass-tone pendulum with twin simulated mercury vials is visible through the glass panel.
