Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Traditional Chippendale

A Pair of Traditional Chippendale Style Upholstered Armchairs - A set of two upholstered armchairs, designed in a traditional Neoclassical revival style reminiscent of Chippendale or Martha Washington forms. Each chair features a hardwood frame with a dark mahogany-toned finish. The upholstery consists of a mauve or rose-colored fabric with a small-scale, repeating geometric diamond pattern. The backrest is designed with an arched camel-style top. The padded, scrolled armrests are accented at the terminals with a decorative row of brass-tone nailhead trim. The chairs are supported by square-tapered front legs featuring vertical fluted detailing, while the rear legs are slightly flared and square-tapered. The seat frame is constructed with a subtle serpentine front rail. No maker's marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior of the pieces. These chairs date to the late 20th century.
