American Victorian Walnut and Marble Top Well-Top Dresser with Handcut dovetail Joinery, 39 inches wide - This is an American Victorian well-top chest of drawers, dating to the late 19th century, approximately 1870 to 1890. The piece is constructed with walnut as the primary wood and features a dark finish. Secondary wood used in the drawer construction appears to be poplar or pine. The drawer joinery is the Handcut Dovetails, The dresser features a recessed central marble inset flanked by two raised sections containing small glove drawers. The drawer fronts are decorated with recessed panels and incised geometric patterns typical of the Eastlake style. The main drawers are equipped with turned wooden knobs and integrated escutcheons. The piece is supported on four metal casters.
