Mid-20th Century Colonial Revival Cedar-Lined Blanket Chest, 39 inches long, foot needs re-attached - This mid-20th century storage chest, commonly referred to as a blanket or hope chest, is designed in a Primitive or Colonial Revival style. The exterior is constructed from solid wood, likely pine or cedar, with a medium brown stain that emphasizes the natural grain and knots. The interior is secondary-lined with aromatic red cedar planks. The chest features a flat lid secured by two brass-toned hinges and a metal lid stay on the right side. The exterior is accented with three decorative, blackened metal strap-style plates located on the lid and front, with a central latching mechanism. The piece stands on four carved bracket-style feet.
