William L. Gilbert Clock Company 8-Day Miniature Banjo Wall Clock - This is an American banjo-style wall clock produced by the William L. Gilbert Clock Company of Winsted, Connecticut. The clock features a dark-stained wood case with a circular dial housing topped by a brass eagle finial. The tapered neck is ornamented with beaded trim along the center and scrolling brass side rails. The lower rectangular box section contains a reverse-painted glass tablet featuring a landscape scene with trees and a body of water under a yellow-toned sky. The silvered dial displays black Arabic numerals and spade-style hands, with the maker mark Gilbert 1807 printed above the center and 8 DAY above the six o'clock position. The clock is powered by an 8-day, spring-driven mechanical movement with a single winding arbor. A brass-colored winding key is included.
