New Haven Clock Co. Nautical Theme Banjo Wall Clock with Eagle Finial - An American banjo-style wall clock manufactured by the New Haven Clock Company of New Haven, Connecticut. The wooden case is finished in a dark stain and is topped with a gilt-metal eagle finial. The clock features a brass-toned circular bezel and decorative side scrolls. The off-white dial displays black Roman numeral hour markers, a railroad-style outer minute track, and two black Breguet-style hands. The dial is marked THE NEW HAVEN CLOCK CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. and MADE BY THE NEW HAVEN CLOCK CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. along the lower edge. The waist and lower box are fitted with reverse-painted eglomise glass panels. The waist panel features a neoclassical scroll and foliate motif in blue and cream, while the lower rectangular panel depicts a maritime scene of two three-masted sailing vessels in naval combat. The clock contains an 8-day mechanical movement with a half-hour strike. An original paper label is affixed to the reverse of the case titled DIRECTIONS 8 DAY, HALF HOUR STRIKE and bears the maker's name. The item includes an associated brass-toned pendulum and a winding key.
