The set includes a drop-leaf dining table and matching side chairs. The table features a rectangular top with two drop leaves and is supported by a trestle base with gate-leg swing-out supports. It includes a single drawer at one end with a simple turned wooden pull. The chairs are designed with a distinctive heart-shaped or shield-shaped backrest featuring a horizontal oval handle cutout. Each chair has a saddle seat and splayed legs reinforced with cross-stretchers. The underside of the chair seat bears a black stenciled mark that reads NO. 540 CHAIR MELLOTONE MAPLE. The set is constructed of solid maple wood.
