A Collection of American Utilitarian Stoneware Storage Jars and a Crock, 1/2 to 1 gallon, some are wax sealers - An assortment of American stoneware vessels primarily designed for utilitarian food storage and canning. The collection includes a cylindrical crock featuring a prominent salt glaze with an orange peel texture and a plain rolled rim. Several storage jars are present, characterized by narrowed shoulders and simple rims. Glaze finishes vary among the items, including a dark brown Albany-type slip glaze and various shades of tan and gray-toned slip. One of the tan storage jars is marked with the impressed letters USA on the base, indicating domestic manufacture. The vessels demonstrate traditional pottery techniques, with visible wire marks and shelf wear on the undersides.
