Two Vintage Red Globe Signal Lanterns, Dietz No. 40 and Armspear PRR Pennsylvania Railroad 1925 - This lot consists of two vintage utility signal lanterns equipped with red glass globes. The first item is a Dietz Traffic Gard No. 40 road construction lantern manufactured by the R.E. Dietz Company in Syracuse, New York. The lantern features a weighted flared base for stability, a wire bail handle, and a short red glass globe. The top is embossed with DIETZ, SYRACUSE N.Y. U.S.A., TRAFFIC GARD, and No. 40. The side of the chimney and the filler cap are also marked with the Dietz name. The second item is a railroad signal lantern manufactured by the Armspear Manufacturing Co. of New York. The top is embossed with ARMSPEAR MFG. CO. NEW YORK and features a central keystone logo containing the PRR initials for the Pennsylvania Railroad. The date 1925 is embossed in quotation marks below the logo. This lantern is constructed from galvanized steel with a protective wire frame cage, a tiered chimney with circular ventilation holes, and a tall wire bail handle. The internal fount and burner assembly are present.
