WEST OF MEEKER PICKUP- John Deere Antique Cast Iron Corn Sheller with Electric Motor Modification - This is an antique stationary corn sheller manufactured by John Deere, designed for agricultural use in the early-to-mid 20th century. The machine is constructed primarily of cast iron with a sheet metal side housing, mounted on a metal frame that is secured to a heavy wooden plank base. Key mechanical components include a large spoked cast iron flywheel, a manual hand crank with a wooden handle, and a pulley for alternative belt-driven operation. The top of the unit features a cast iron inlet hopper with internal rotating shelling ridges. An electric motor, which appears to be a later field modification, is mounted to the lower section of the frame to automate operation. Several cast identification marks are visible on the housing, including 6695-C with the letters JD directly below, 6694-C also featuring the JD mark, and C103-B located inside the hopper area. A wire-mesh frame is attached to the side, intended to support a collection container.
