A Pair of 19th Century Chinese Silk Embroidered Sleeve Panels - A pair of 19th Century Chinese silk embroidered sleeve panels, each featuring detailed silk embroidery on a cream-colored silk ground. The panels display a symmetrical arrangement of traditional auspicious motifs, including various vases filled with flowers, potted plants, and other ”Precious Objects” or ”Hundred Antiques, ” interspersed with large peonies, smaller blossoms, and stylized clouds. Prominently visible on the stands supporting the central vases is the Chinese character ”壽” (shòu), translating to ”longevity.” The embroidery is executed in a vibrant palette of silk floss, predominantly featuring blues, oranges, greens, and reds. Each panel is set within a simple dark-stained wooden frame. Each framed panel approximately 24 x 5 inches.
