The main body of the trumpet is heavily worn, showing significant tarnish, a reddish-brown patina, and areas where the underlying brass is exposed. Engraved or stamped markings on the horn clearly read ”FOREMAN,” ”RESCUE,” ”ENGINE CO. No 1.,” and ”ATTICA.”, indicating its use by a fire department foreman in Attica. Attached to the trumpet is a bright yellow braided rope with two tassels.
