'WARDEN DOVER' Cairns & Brother American Firefighter's Helmet, 'WARDEN DOVER' - Leather letters made in NY before 1946, from Dover NJ. A traditional-style American firefighter's helmet by Cairns & Brother, featuring a black ribbed dome and an extended rear brim, likely constructed from a hardened material. It is fitted with a black leather front shield embossed with decorative motifs and displaying raised gold-colored lettering on a red background, reading ”WARDEN” at the top and ”DOVER” at the bottom. A central, silver-toned metal emblem depicts a Maltese cross design with crossed axes, a trumpet, a ladder, and a helmet, while smaller ”FD” emblems appear on the helmet's sides. The interior reveals a tan canvas suspension system and a corrugated metal crown, where a circular manufacturer's label identifies it as ”CAIRNS & BROTHER, NEW YORK” and ”FIRE HELMETS & EQUIP. MFG. EST. 1836.”
