An American LaFrance Fire Engine Company Bourdon Compound Gauge, dated 1903 - An early 20th-century American LaFrance Fire Engine Company Bourdon Compound Gauge, manufactured by American S.G. & V. Mfg. Co. of Boston, U.S.A., and dated March 24, 1903. This circular instrument features a metal casing and a round dial protected by a glass cover. The dial is clearly marked ”AMERICAN FRANCE FIRE ENGINE CO. INC. ELMIRA, N.Y.” along the top arc, ”COMPOUND” in the center, and ”AMERICAN S.G. & V. MFG. CO. BOSTON, U.S.A.” below. Additional text identifies it as an ”AMERICAN BOURDON GAUGE” and displays a patent date ”PAT'D MAR. 24 '03” and serial number ”1484689”. The gauge face measures both vacuum (0-30 VAC.) and pressure (0-120 PRESS.) with corresponding numerical scales.
