Goodyear Patent 1869 - Cairns 8 comb high eagle, leather fire helmet ”Moyamensing Hook and Ladder from Chester Pa” features tin and brass shield. , consistent with 19th-century design, featuring a wide brim and a domed, ribbed crown. The shell and brim are constructed of heavily lacquered or hardened black leather. A prominent, lighter-colored metal front shield is affixed to the front, displaying the gold-colored initials 'M.H.1' above the date '1869'. A detailed, gold-colored finial, depicting an eagle, surmounts the crown behind the shield. The interior features a deteriorated textile lining and a leather sweatband, along with a brass-colored central disc marked 'NEW VENTILATED' and a metal band embossed with 'GOODYEAR PATENT MARCH 19 1869'.
