A Benedict Hammered Copper and Wrought Iron Table Lamp, Style 229, Onondaga Metal Shops - A single table lamp base attributed to the Onondaga Metal Shops, Style 229, often referred to as a Benedict Lamp, dating circa 1905-1907. This rare style lamp is constructed primarily of hammered copper, mounted with heavy, patinated wrought iron accents in a rustic Arts and Crafts or Gothic Revival aesthetic. The bell-shaped copper vessel features extensive hand-hammered texture and a warm, aged patina. Decorative wrought iron elements include a scalloped band at the shoulder, riveted straps, shield appliqués (one side featuring a central boss), and fixed decorative rings resembling handles. The base is supported by four robust, scrolling dark metal feet. A central column rises from the neck, supporting a double brass socket cluster with pull chains, positioned beneath a small metal cap, along with a four-armed shade support spider frame. In the Catalogue it originally retailed in 1905 for $65.00!
