Grand Army of the Republic Veteran Civil War Medal - A Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) veteran membership medal, cast in bronze or brass. The obverse features a five-pointed star with a central circular relief depicting a group of figures shaking hands, encircled by the text GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC and 1861-VETERAN-1866. The reverse displays a central shield with stars and stripes, surrounded by a series of embossed Union Army corps badges. One edge of the star is stamped with the serial number R 13202. The medal retains its original wire suspension loop.
