A Pair of Crown Silver Co. Sterling Silver Weighted Salt and Pepper Shakers - This pair of salt and pepper shakers is produced by the Crown Silver Co. Inc. of New York. Each piece is crafted in sterling silver and features a weighted base for stability. The shakers are designed in a Neoclassical urn form with a tapered body supported by a stepped, spreading circular foot. A decorative rope-twist or gadrooned band is applied around the shoulder of each vessel. The pieces are topped with domed, pierced covers finished with pointed finials. The underside of each base is stamped with the maker hallmark featuring the word Crown in cursive script above a pictorial crown symbol, with the block capital words STERLING and WEIGHTED below.
