Description:

European .835 Silver and Baltic Amber Circular Openwork Brooch
A circular openwork brooch featuring a large central cabochon of Baltic amber. The amber is a deep reddish-orange color and contains internal circular stress fractures known as sun spangles. The stone is secured within a silver frame decorated with an asymmetric botanical-inspired border consisting of scrolling tendrils and small silver spheres. The reverse of the frame is stamped with the silver purity mark 835 and an illegible maker's monogram. The piece is equipped with a horizontal pin stem and a revolving safety C-clasp.
Approximately 1.5 inches (38 mm) in diameter.

The brooch is in good vintage condition. The silver components exhibit light surface tarnish and a natural patina consistent with age. The amber cabochon is secure in its setting and shows minor surface-level abrasions and faint scratches visible under magnification. No significant chips or cracks are present. The pin mechanism and safety catch are in functional working order.
