An Assortment of Socony Five Free Funny Aces Promotional Comic Strip Character Masks - This collection consists of die-cut cardboard promotional masks from the 1933 Socony Service, Standard Oil Company of New York, advertising campaign titled Five Free Funny Aces. The masks feature various licensed comic strip characters of the era including Jeff, Skippy, Pa McGinis, Ella Cinders, and Lord Plushbottom. Each mask is constructed of printed cardboard with cut-out eye holes. The reverse of each item contains the character name, promotional instructions for the Five Free Funny Aces set, and the Socony Service logo featuring a station attendant with the slogan As Fast As It Is Thorough. Visible copyright marks include H.C. Fisher, Skippy Inc., A.R. Momand, Stephen Slesinger Inc., and Famous Artists Syndicate. Several masks retain the original metal wire headband fasteners.
