Antique American Blown Glass Whimsy Walking Stick with Red and Yellow Spirals - This hand-blown glass decorative object is an antique glass whimsy walking stick, also known as a parade cane. The piece is crafted from clear glass featuring an internal double-helix spiral decoration of alternating deep red and pale yellow canes. The form consists of a long, tapered shaft ending in a bulbous, rounded pommel at the top and a flattened, slightly rounded point at the tip. An antique paper tag is attached to the neck of the piece with twine. The handwritten text on the tag reads: 2219 JTB, Given to me from nurse Grandin. Made by her father uncle Major Minard. Made in Roulette. Roulette, Pennsylvania, was a center for glass manufacturing in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Glass whimsies of this type were frequently produced by glassblowers at the end of their shifts as personal projects or gifts. Length: 32.5 inches.
