Multicolored Latticino Style Free-Blown Glass Parade Staff Whimsey - This free-blown glass parade staff, also known as a glassworker's whimsey or frigger, is constructed of clear glass containing internal multi-colored spirals. The internal decoration features spiraling ribbons in yellow, opaque white, emerald green, cobalt blue, and deep burgundy. The form consists of a bulbous handle at one end and a shaft that tapers to a rounded point. This style of glasswork is attributed to 19th-century glasshouses such as the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company or Nailsea Glassworks. The piece shows evidence of hand-pulled construction with small air bubbles visible within the glass. Length: 50.5 inches.
