Bidspirit auction | Antique Red and White Hand-Tied

Antique Red and White Hand-Tied Cotton Quilt Dated 1919 - This hand-pieced and hand-tied cotton quilt features a two-color geometric pattern. The construction utilizes two distinct printed cotton fabrics: a red fabric with white polka dots and a cream-colored fabric with a small red star motif. The layout consists of large red squares alternating with cream squares composed of smaller triangular units, creating a diamond-based geometric design. The layers are secured with hand-tied yarn knots at regular intervals across the surface rather than decorative quilting stitches. A handwritten paper note pinned to the quilt is inscribed Hand Made By CORA GEE WELTY in Presho N.Y. in 1919. A small secondary printed sticker on the note reads SUZANTIQUES Main St., Savona. 85 inches x 78 inches.
