The cast is likely a 19th or early 20th-century reproduction created for historical study or private collection. The circular border contains a Latin inscription in medieval script reading SIGILLVM LIBERI OPPIDI DE HARLEM, which translates to Seal of the Free Town of Haarlem. The original seal design dates to the 13th or 14th century. The cast is composed of a dark green-grey material, possibly hard wax, resin, or plaster, and is mounted to a square tan cardstock base.
