Dutch Heraldic Wax Counter-Seal Fragment Adriaan van Assendelft circa 1680 - This archival specimen features a dark green wax seal fragment identified as the counter-seal (contra-zegel) of Adriaan van Assendelft of Holland. The seal displays a heraldic coat of arms centered on a rampant horse (paard). The fragment is mounted on a vellum ribbon which is adhered to a buff-colored cardstock mount. The mount includes several handwritten annotations in Dutch providing genealogical and heraldic details, including the attribution to circa 1680 (Pr. Zegel +/- 1680). A blue ink stamp on the lower left reads A.G.R-D1. blz. The lower right corner notes the item is from the collection of Johan van Assendelft (verz: Johan v.A.). The reverse of the card includes a handwritten provenance note dated 1919. Width: 3.75 inches (9.5 cm).
