Wommelgem Magistrates. Manuscript Legal Charter on Vellum. Wommelgem, 17th Century. (Signed) - This item is an early modern manuscript document on vellum, functioning as a legal charter or administrative deed from the 17th century, originating from the municipality of Wommelgem in the province of Antwerp. The document consists of a single large sheet of vellum, historically folded, featuring a pendant wax seal attached by a vellum tag. The text is written in a Dutch or Flemish secretary hand. The exterior of the folded document bears an inscription reading Eed tot den ouden Wommelgem. The interior text mentions Schepenen (magistrates or aldermen) and Jan Bramans. A primary signature at the bottom right reads :Verbeeck and features extensive calligraphic flourishes. Another signature reads Wommelgem.
