Armorial Red Wax Seal of Rutger van Echten, 18th or 19th Century - This item is a historical red wax armorial seal fragment mounted on cardstock, belonging to a member of the noble van Echten family. The central image features a deeply impressed coat of arms consisting of an oval shield, an ornate barred helmet with foliate mantling, and a crest of two spread wings. The legend around the perimeter of the seal is transcribed as SIGILLUM RUTGERI VAN ECHTENS. The seal is attached to a circular-clipped fragment of an 18th or 19th-century German ecclesiastical calendar or list. Visible text on the verso includes Christfest (Christmas), Stephan (St. Stephen's Day), Silvester (New Year's Eve), and Mar. Empf. (Mary's Conception) alongside days of the week indicated by letters. The mounting card contains handwritten ink inscriptions in the upper right corner reading v. Echten / Rutgers / Sig. and a reference notation P.Z. 302 in the lower right.
