Red Wax Ecclesiastical Seal Impression of the Cathedral Church of Haarlem Netherlands - A circular red wax impression of a medieval ecclesiastical seal mounted on a square tan cardboard board. The central image depicts a standing religious figure, identified as a bishop or high-ranking church official, holding a crozier in his left hand. To the right of the figure is a stylized Gothic architectural representation of a cathedral featuring a prominent spire. The seal contains a circumferential Latin inscription in Gothic lettering which reads S. CAPITVLI-CATHEDRALIS-ECCLESIAE-HARLEMENSI. This legend translates to Seal of the Chapter of the Cathedral Church of Haarlem. The mounting board contains several handwritten notations in black ink. The top right is marked HAARLEM. The top left is marked 14de E, a Dutch abbreviation for 14th Century, and Kerkzeg, an abbreviation for Kerkzegel or church seal. The bottom of the mount features a full transcription of the seal legend. The reverse of the mount is blank with a coarse texture. Mount: 3.5 inches x 3.5 inches Seal: 2.5 inches diameter.
