Prince-Bishopric of Basel. Oberweiler: Zipper von Angenstein Berein. 1775. Manuscript (Signed) - This eighteenth-century bound manuscript is a land and tithe register, known as a Berein, for the village of Oberweiler, dated May 12, 1775. The document is an administrative decree issued under the authority of Prince-Bishop Friedrich of Basel regarding the estates of the Zipper von Angenstein family. The text is written in calligraphic Kurrentschrift and identifies several regional officials, including Frantz Karl von und zu Andlau and Johann Justus Schumachers. The manuscript is composed of handmade paper or thin parchment leaves hand-sewn into flexible cream-colored parchment wraps with a red and white twisted cord. A notable feature is the attached two-piece turned wood skippet containing an intact red wax armorial seal. Internal sections include registers of tithes and land divisions such as Zelg im Mittleren Feld. The document concludes with a formal colophon signed by J. J.
