1807 Dutch Municipal Wax Seal for the Mayor of Haarlem - This item is a mounted dark green wax seal representing the official small seal, or klein zegel, for the Mayor of Haarlem, Netherlands. Dated 1807, the seal originates from the period of the Kingdom of Holland under the reign of Louis Bonaparte. The circular wax impression features a central heraldic shield divided into four quarters, each containing a rampant lion. The shield is surmounted by a crown and surrounded by a beaded border. An outer circular legend is present, with the Latin word SIGILLVM partially distinguishable along the lower arc. The seal is mounted on a square of tan cardstock featuring handwritten Dutch annotations in black ink. Inscriptions on the card include the date A 1807 and the notation kl: zeg: at the top left, the city name Haarlem at the top right, and the title R: Burgemeester der stad Haarlem 5 at the bottom.
