Dutch Republic States General Counter-Seal Wax Cast on Card Dated 1624 - This item is a circular red wax or composition cast of a historical counter-seal mounted on a square, fibrous brown cardstock backing. The cast features the high-relief heraldic design of the Staten Generaal (States General) of the Dutch Republic, depicting a lion rampant holding a bundle of arrows. The bundle of arrows is a symbolic representation of the unity of the seven provinces. The word CONCORDIA is inscribed in small characters near the arrows. The circular legend on the seal reads SIGILLVM ORDINVM BELGII ADVERSVM. The mounting card contains handwritten identifications in ink, including the date Aº 1624 and the term contra zegel (counter-seal).
