1870 Rochester New York German Language Marriage Certificate St. Trinity Church - This is a nineteenth-century marriage certificate, titled Trau-Schein, printed in German Fraktur script on a single sheet of paper. The document is dated May 5, 1870, and originates from St. Trinitatis Kirche (St. Trinity Church) in Rochester, New York. It records the union of Gottlieb Buchmüller, identified as being born in Switzerland and residing in Rochester, to Rosine Baumann, also of Rochester. The ceremony was performed by the preacher C. Siebenpfeiffer. Witnesses listed are Samuel Baumann and Rosine Buchmüller. The document features a decorative typographic border and a central woodcut vignette depicting clasped hands within a floral wreath. A five-cent orange U.S. Internal Revenue stamp is affixed to the upper left corner, hand-cancelled with the characters C. S. 1870. An embossed seal at the lower left reads ST.
