US 10-Cent Fifth Issue Fractional Currency Note, William M. Meredith - This US Fifth Issue ten-cent fractional currency note features a portrait of William M. Meredith on the left side of the face. The central denomination 10 CENTS is set within an elaborate lathework design. To the lower right is a large red Treasury seal positioned over the printed signatures of Register John Allison and Treasurer F. E. Spinner. The face includes the text UNITED STATES across the top. The reverse is printed in green ink and bears the inscription ACT OF MARCH 3D 1863 along the left margin and COLUMBIAN BANK NOTE Co. WASHINGTON, D.C. at the bottom center. The central portion of the reverse contains text regarding the note's receivability by the US Treasury in sums not less than three dollars. Width: Approximately 3 1/8 inches.
