US 1855 NY Prohibitory Liquor Law Medal, Copper - A commemorative medal struck in copper or a base metal alloy to mark the passage of the New York State prohibitory liquor law in 1855. The medal features a sunburst and goblet obverse with legends reading STATE OF NEW YORK, NO REPEAL, and JULY 4 1855. The reverse features a laurel wreath design surrounding the inscription TO COMMEMORATE THE PASSAGE OF THE PROHIBITORY LIQUOR LAW. This piece is holed at the 12 o'clock position for suspension.
