Elgin Grade 345 Model 2 Gold Filled 17-Jewel Open Face Pocket Watch Circa 1911 - A vintage American pocket watch manufactured by the Elgin National Watch Company. The movement is a Grade 345, Model 2, 12-size caliber with 17 jewels and a manual-wind, pendant-set mechanism. The movement plates feature a nickel finish with decorative damaskeening and are marked ELGIN NATL WATCH CO., 17 JEWELS, and U.S.A., with movement serial number 15815144. The open-face gold-filled case was produced by Wadsworth and is stamped WADSWORTH WARRANTED 20 YEARS with case serial number 1536247. The white porcelain enamel dial is marked ELGIN and features black Arabic numerals, a red outer five-minute track, and a sunken sub-seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The interior case back exhibits multiple hand-scratched watchmaker service notations. Measurements: approximately 45 mm diameter Case size: 12 size. The watch is not running. The gold-filled case displays significant brassing and wear through the gold layer to the base metal, most notably on the bezel and back cover. The decorative scrollwork engraving on the case back is heavily rubbed and faint. The dial appears to be in overall good condition with some light surface dust visible under the crystal.
