Vintage Gruen Cartouche 14k White Gold Filled Art Deco Ladies Wristwatch - A vintage Gruen Cartouche manual wind mechanical wristwatch from the Art Deco period. The timepiece features a tonneau-form case crafted from 14 karat white gold filled metal. The bezel and side galleries are decorated with intricate foliate and floral engravings. The dial is a patinated cream color with an oval central chapter ring containing a rail-track minute scale and surrounded by black Arabic numeral hour markers. It features blackened steel moon-style hands and a fluted crown set with a blue glass or synthetic spinel cabochon. The watch is fitted with an ornate articulated link bracelet manufactured by Hadley, featuring stamped floral rectangular links and openwork curved links. The bracelet clasp is marked HADLEY QUALITY and stamped with US Patent number 1,966,068, which corresponds to an extension mechanism patented in 1934. Case size: approximately 30mm (lug to lug) x 18mm (excluding crown). The watch is in good vintage condition with signs of wear consistent with age. The 14 karat gold filled case and bracelet exhibit surface scratches, minor indentations, and areas of tarnish. There is visible wear to the gold filling on high-contact points and edges. The dial shows heavy patina, significant foxing, and minor debris under the crystal. The crystal has several surface scratches and scuffing.
