Vintage Art Deco Silver-Tone Tonneau Wristwatch with Engraved Case - This is a vintage Art Deco period wristwatch featuring a tonneau-shaped silver-tone case. The case is decorated with ornate floral and geometric scrollwork engraving along the bezel and lugs. The dial is a two-tone aged cream color with a textured concentric circle center, printed Arabic numerals, and a railroad-style outer minute track. A sub-seconds dial is positioned at the 6 o'clock mark, and the hands are a dark-finished cathedral style. The dial is marked SWITZERLAND at the bottom. The watch is constructed with silver-tone base metal, stainless steel, and running materials. It features a manual-wind movement and is currently in running condition. It is fitted with an integrated silver-tone link bracelet. The interior of the clasp is marked STAINLESS and PAT. NO. 1766943 MADE IN U.S.A. (referencing a 1930 patent). The exterior of the clasp is engraved with the script monogram E J W. Case width: 26 mm Lug to lug: 32 mm. The watch exhibits significant wear commensurate with age. There is heavy scratching and noticeable plating loss (brassing) on the case back, edges, and onion-style crown, revealing the yellow base metal underneath. The dial shows a heavy overall patina with visible staining and discoloration throughout. The crystal is intact but shows numerous surface scratches and general cloudiness. The movement is reported as running; however, timekeeping accuracy and long-term functionality have not been tested. Sold as-is.
