Elgin B.W. Raymond 21 Jewel 12kt Gold Filled Railroad Grade Pocket Watch - An Elgin National Watch Co. B.W. Raymond grade railroad pocket watch. The manual wind movement features 21 jewels and is adjusted to 5 positions. The movement plate is engraved B.W. Raymond and includes serial number 28962175, dating the piece to approximately 1926. The balance bridge is marked ELGIN NATL WATCH CO U.S.A. The watch is housed in an open face 12kt gold filled case produced by the Star Watch Case Company, case serial number 7309632. The white porcelain Montgomery dial features black Arabic hour numerals, a full 1 through 60 outer minute track with red five-minute markers, and a sunken sub-seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The hands are blued steel spade style. The movement runs. Diameter: 2 inches (50.8 mm) Case size: 16s. The porcelain dial exhibits visible crazing and multiple hairline cracks, most prominent between the 7 and 11 o'clock positions. The gold filled case shows moderate surface scratching and wear-through, or brassing, on the high points of the decorative milled edges and the bow. The movement is visually clean and is in running condition.
