Waltham Grade 225 Model 1894 Gold Filled Hunting Case Pocket Watch with Chain - Watch runs. This pocket watch features a movement produced by the American Waltham Watch Co. of Waltham, Massachusetts. The movement is a Grade No. 225, Model 1894, manual wind mechanical type with damaskeened nickel plates. It is marked A.W.W.CO. WALTHAM, MASS. and bears the serial number 16746035, which dates the manufacture to approximately 1908. The watch is housed in a gold-filled hunting case manufactured by the Philadelphia Watch Case Co., identified by its crown logo and the inscription GUARANTEED TWENTY YEARS. The case serial number is 9994236. The exterior is decorated with elaborate engine-turned patterns and foliate borders. The front cover features a monogrammed shield cartouche. The inner cuvette is professionally engraved in script with the name and date Minnie Steadman April 8-1919. The white porcelain enamel dial displays black Arabic hour numerals, a red outer minute track, and a sub-seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The hands are blued steel spade style. The lot includes a long gold-tone rope-link chain. Case diameter: 1.75 inches Chain length: 24 inches. The watch is in good antique condition and is currently running. The gold-filled case shows light surface scratches and minor wear to the gold finish on the high points. The porcelain dial exhibits faint hairline fractures and minor age-related wear.
