F. F. Rude Cuba N.Y. Private Label Pocket Watch Illinois Watch Co. Movement - This is an antique open face pocket watch featuring a private label dial and movement for jeweler F. F. Rude of Cuba, New York. The manual wind, key wind and key set movement is attributed to the Illinois Watch Company, featuring damaskeened nickel plates and a Safety Pinion grade. The movement is serial numbered 206428. The white enamel porcelain dial is signed F. F. Rude, Cuba, N. Y. and displays black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute track with Arabic numerals at five minute intervals, and a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The hands are blued steel spade style. The heavy duty case is constructed from Oresilver, a proprietary nickel silver alloy produced by Joseph Fahys and Co., marked with serial number 5221848 and Fahys Oresilver No. 1. The case features milled coin edges on both the front and rear bezels. Case size: 57 mm. The dial shows a significant chip and associated hairline cracks near the 8 and 9 o'clock positions. The case exhibits generalized tarnish and surface scratches consistent with age and use. The movement appears visually complete; however, it has not been tested for timekeeping accuracy or long term functionality. A winding key is not included. The crystal shows minor surface wear.
