American Waltham Watch Co. Silveroid Open Face Pocket Watch with Locomotive Engraving - This is an antique open face pocket watch produced by the American Waltham Watch Co. The timepiece features a white porcelain enamel dial with black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute track with red Arabic numerals at five-minute intervals, and black spade-style hands. It includes a subsidiary seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position. The dial is marked AMERICAN Waltham Watch Co. The watch is housed in an 18 size case manufactured by the Keystone Watchcase Co. from Silveroid, which is a proprietary nickel-silver alloy. The exterior case back is decorated with a detailed engraving of a steam locomotive engine. The interior of the case back is stamped with the Keystone hallmark, the word SILVEROID, and the serial number 8965063. Diameter: 2.25 inches. The porcelain dial exhibits significant and visible hairline cracks and crazing, primarily across the right side of the face. The Silveroid case shows general surface wear, light scratches, and tarnishing consistent with age. The locomotive engraving on the back shows some smoothing from handling. The mechanical movement has not been accessed or tested for timekeeping accuracy or functionality. The crystal displays light surface scuffing.
